The novel begins with the death of John Anthrapper, the patriarch of the family, who is found hanging from a tree in his garden. His son, Jomon, who is a journalist in Bahrain, returns to the island to attend his funeral and to investigate the circumstances of his death. He soon discovers that his father was not the first victim of a mysterious killer, who leaves behind yellow lights as a signature. His uncle, Joseph Anthrapper, had also died in a similar manner a few years ago.

Jomon teams up with his childhood friend and love interest, Anna, who is a police officer in Diego Garcia, to unravel the mystery behind the murders. They find out that the Anthrapper family has a dark and violent past, involving land disputes, political conspiracies, and religious fanaticism. They also realize that they are not alone in their quest, as there are other forces that are interested in the secrets of the island and the family.

The novel is a fast-paced and gripping story that keeps the readers hooked till the end. It explores themes such as identity, history, culture, and faith, as well as the impact of colonialism and globalization on the lives of the islanders. The novel also showcases the beauty and diversity of Diego Garcia, which is a British Indian Ocean Territory that is leased to the United States as a military base.

Manjaveyil Maranangal was published in 2011 by D C Books and received positive reviews from critics and readers alike. It won several awards, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Novel in 2012. The novel was also translated into English as Yellow Lights of Death by Sajeev Kumarapuram in 2014.
